Title: Hose Foam Gun Recommendations
Post by: Robby32 on February 19, 2017, 03:56:16 PM
My Gilmore Gun just is not doing the job. I have to feather the pressure to get any foam and then it is still mostly water. All openings are not plugged and open in the gun.

I have the old style with brass top which has the slide with holes in it. I see there is a newer one called Gilmore Foamaster II - Thoughts on it.

Would like recommendations for a replacement if not Foramaster II.

 :Me:

Thanks for your assistance.

I have two of the original Gilmour Foam Guns with all brass fittings - probably just like the one you have. After a number of years, they both did pretty much the same thing yours did. I tried soaking the parts, boiling the parts and scrubbing the parts to get whatever was gunked up cleared out. No dice. What I finally ended up doing was continuing to use the one that still worked pretty well and keeping the other for parts.

As for the new gun they offer, I looked it up and really don't see any noticeable external differences. Maybe they made some internal changes that addressed the problems we both saw?

TS -

The photo of the Foamaster II on Amazon the top looks like it has a dial for the settings. Not the brass slider.

Thanks for your input.

Sorry. I somehow pulled up the wrong one. You're right in that it does look different. It also looks like it has less brass & more plastic though. Not impressed.

TS-

Does look like more plastic ? improvement or not ?

Will see if others have had experience with either No. 1 or 2.

Or have good experience with another make.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

I took it apart and ran a paper clip (small size) though the openings - front to back and back to front and top to bottom and bottom to top.

Works like new - must have been clogged somewhere.

Thanks for your help.

Geez, I tried that and it didn't do a thing. Maybe I'll try it again. Thanks!

I have had the old ones and the new ones.

The new ones with the dial are 100% better.  they work....get one and you will be happy.

Had similar problems as both of you with older style.   None since moving to new style with dial.   Foam Galore.

Thanks for the info. But since mine is working again I'll hold off on a new one. Good to know if I need to replace later on.
