Title: Crappy Paint Spotted in Traffic, parking lots etc.
Post by: Rollingrock on March 25, 2015, 09:04:26 PM
Ok, not a contest (yet) but I just spotted another paint job that caught my eye today at a light...I had to take a photo of it to post here.

Lets see what you see.

My wife and kids notice stuff like that now.

Watching a DVR'd episode of Blacklist last night, there was a black BWM 5 series on screen, and my son goes "that paint looks horrible. Look at all the swirls"

Yea, my son does now too. Funny thing happened when one of his buddies stopped over last week though. He asked the kid (in front of me) if the swirls in his (black) paint bothered him. The kid replied, "What swirls?"

That is rust not dirt on the life gate.

This is Ford Country, on a quite night you can hear a GM rust... :redneck:

What year do you wager that is?   That's not good.

I think that is the 2004 to 2009 MY rear.
- I did a quick 2006 rear image search, and it looks like that one with the handle and fascia around the plate.

It is not good, but that is GM.  The Mrs has the rust enhancer flaps on the bottom of the doors.
- they need to be picked up every week and cleaned under them, so they do not rust the bottom of the door.

All original paint,  Tom.   Maybe not on their original vehicle but paint is original!  I think I'd rather clean the inside of the windshield than mess with the paint.   And I hate doing the inside of windshields.   I'll beg a family member or neighbor to do that part if it means I don't have to.

Get one of these.  Makes it a lot easier.  You can do the whole window sitting in the drivers seat.  Also lets you do the entire tuck windshield without standing on something.     I don't use the bonnets it comes with, I just use a glass towel.

I've always been curious about them.   Just never could bite the bullet and buy one.   Not thst they're expensive.   I guess I just always assumed it was too good to be true.

Why use clay when you can use a wire brush?

Does this count or isnitnclassified as just bad taste?

Anybody who believes that isn't bad taste needs their head examined.

Then again, somebody thinks it's absolutely awesome.

I've been trying for so long to get a picture of this guys vehicles.  Finally he had this one parked at the edge of the driveway while he worked on something else.  He has multiple vehicles in this color scheme. Also a strange VW bug, truck thing that's tacky as hell and some other weird stuff.

Did he shade tree mechanic a dump body on that, or it is a dump body bolted to the frame ?
- Hard to tell, it could go either way.

I do like how he built the mounts for the spare tires before having it painted purple to contrast the blue cab  :wow:

Good god, it has stacks on it.. :wow:
- I did not see them past the purple - blue color combo and the dual spares...

I'm going to try to get more pictures of his other rides.  Sometimes they're out and sometimes its different vehicles.  I see that truck most.

Stacks are making a dumb comeback in Texas.   A lot of kids are buying up older rigs and putting very large stacks in.  Looks so dumb.

The single stack really annoys me.  I just don't like it.  I really don't like stacks much to begin with.  I don't like the concept.

Ok, I wouldn't call it hot, but it does look like it might be fun.  Haha  As long as that front fender doesn't cut through the tire that's stuffed way up in there.    But hey, my middle name is carnage so what the hell...

You should have seen how much it smoked creeping off the line when the light changed.
- I think it only had 1 piston ring left intact.

Let's revisit this guy.  Look familiar?  No dual, side mounted spares though.  He does have stacks on both of these as well though.  Every time I approach his house I get my phone ready to take a picture.  There are more of them.  He alternates them.
