We were on a home scouting mission for some family members. We hit Waverly, Elmira, and Corning, New York. All right along the New York / Pennsylvania state line. Nice day for a drive, unlike today when my son and I drove to Syracuse and back in the rain for some father and son go cart racing. (Dad won BTW.)

Well boys and girls, my 2014 Tacoma is heading down the road to a new home. It was going on 7 years old and had 115,000 miles on it, but was still in beautiful shape. So I decided to sell it while it was still worth good money. To give you an idea how good the resale value on used Tacomas really is, I got almost exactly half of what I paid for it 7 years ago.

So what vehicle did I buy to replace it? Here's a picture of it sitting in my bay at work. I actually got to do the final new vehicle prep on it.

Man that thing looks good!  Congrats!  So did they pay you to prep your own vehicle?

Yea, they actually did. I tried not to get too silly with it though, but I did take a good deal of ribbing from my friends in Service. I did wait until lunch to throw a quick coat of Menzerna Power Lock on it. It's too cold to ceramic coat it yet, so that should hold it until I do.

Nice change up.  Doing your own new vehicle prep, you know they did not use the sponge that they have had since the Reagan administration and dropped it on the floor weekly.

Yes, 100%. He officially laid claim to the back seat the day I brought it home.

Funny you should mention that. I actually got a Cover Craft back seat cover through the dealership. It's an official 4Runner accessory. I'm sure adding the "4Runner" stitching on it added a hundred bucks to the price.

Fancy!  Haha.  Reminds me of someone else around here who we won’t mention by name but would probably buy used diapers if they had a Yeti logo on them.

You think that’ll bring him in out of his hole?  Haha
