I'd probably go with one of my favorite combinations on that mess. Start with M101 on a yellow or orange LC pad, then finish with M205 on a white LC pad. No matter what you use, I'm sure it will look just awesome!

I think you hit the nail on the head. I doubt this paint has ever seen an once of wax.

If you have Optimum MF pads, I would start with the polishing pad and HyperPolish to see how it corrects.

You might need to step up to MF cutting pad and Optimum Hypercompound, but starting out with the polish level 1st you might find 2 passes does the trick, without the need for polishing over the cutting / HyperCompound step.

Just a thought.

Good thought Steve, I do have some Optimum MF pads that could make this job a bit easier. My Hyper compound is toast though, I threw it out last year sometime.

I'll probably mess with the hood first to dial in a process and then see how it goes. By the looks of it, there is some CC failure on the rear fender, so I'm going to have to play it safe with that.

Looking to spend some time on it this weekend. Probably won’t knock all the paint out, but get a decent start on it.

Spent some time on it today. Got the drivers side done. Tried a few different pads and M101 and M105. Ended up using a orange LC pad and M101 and then Orange SuperBuff pad M205. Finished it off with Meguiars Fast Finish.

Afters

Hopefully I can get the other side and hold done tomorrow. Then I’ll probably do one pass on the roof and seal it.

Wow, that was a lot of correcting.

Did it give up the defects easy ?

What machine and speed were you using ?

It took a few passes to nail down what the paint liked. I found that the MF pads (Optimum and Meguiar's), left little "hooks" of marring with the M101 and M105. They were new, never used pads. Also left a little bit of haze, although that was less of a concern as the M205 would have taken care of it.

With the Orange pad on the Rupes Bigfoot, I used a slower speed "3". The faster speeds, didn't seem to correct any faster and just generated more heat. with the M101, I did the final pass with really light pressure and speed cranked to "6".

The 50/50 pic is after the M101 and Orange pad.

The M205 and the Orange "AIO" Super Buff pad was at a higher speed, between 4 and 5. Pretty quick work with this combo, only a couple passes per panel.

I didn't have anytime to do more today as the Wife had made Father's Day plans.

first of all it looks great!  nice work as usual.

So i am kind of out of the loop on LC colors these days. but back a few years ago, orange would be a very aggressive pad.

Are you using the new Hydro's or they are still using VC?  (Variable Couture) pads?   I have seen VC pads in a long time.

I'm using the newer Hydro pads. So I guess it one step down from the new "blue" cutting pad.
